Skidfin Principal Nelson Holmberg — better known around the pits and docks as “Skidfin guy” — has racing fuel in his veins and a passion for motorsports in every form.
He’s turned wrenches and managed PR for three unlimited hydroplane teams, called the shots as an H1 Unlimited official, and strapped in himself to race a C-class outboard hydroplane. On top of that, he’s steered leadership, strategy, PR, and administration for Electric Radio Controlled Unlimiteds (ERCU), keeping the action alive at every scale. Nelson’s motorsports know-how is matched by a broad career in sports marketing, PR, and leadership. He’s worked across college athletics — football, tennis, basketball, crew, softball, and soccer — professional women’s basketball, and even championship-level junior golf. Wherever competition meets performance, Nelson’s been in the mix. A proud graduate of Washington State University’s Edward R. Murrow College of Communication, Nelson majored in public relations and minored in sport management — arming him with the tools to match his passion for the roar of engines and the thrill of the race. |

Meet Shasta, our siberian husky rescue and official office paw-tner. She’s all about tail wags, walk breaks, and keeping the team fueled with her boundless energy. If there’s excitement to be found, Shasta’s leading the charge — usually with a big husky grin.
In 2024, Shasta attended her very first boat race in Newberg, Ore. over Memorial Day weekend, and she was hooked. By the 2025 ERCU Championship Series, she wasn’t just tagging along; she was a full-fledged pit crew regular. Turns out, Shasta’s a motorsports fan, too. |
